ohan, John E. passed away December 27, 2020 in Memory Care at Summit Place, Eden Prairie, Minnesota. He was born October 8, 1931 in St. Paul to John Emlin Bohan and Mary Dwyer Bohan. John was a proud 1949 graduate of St. Paul Central High School and remain ed in touch with classmates who gathered regularly at reunions for 50 years. John met his first wife Margaret Richards Bohan ("Muffy") at East Glacier Park Lodge where he spent three summers as a hotel porter. Muffy worked as a waitress. They hiked through out Glacier National Park on their days off and fell in love. During their 34 year marriage, they often returned to Glacier Park with their four children. John graduated from the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Business in 1953 (Go Gophers!) then started his work at The Pillsbury Company where he was a loyal and hard working member for 45 years. John loved numbers and strategizing. He held various finance and control positions and managed the Company's investments of its Pension Trusts and Foundat ion. John also served on the Pension Investments Advisory Committee to Pillsbury's parent company at the time, Grand Metropolitan PLC, now Diageo PLC. He retired in 1998 as Vice President, Pension Investments. During John's distinguished career he served o n numerous other investment and financial committees including the Minnesota State Board of Investment Advisory Council (28 years); the Committee on the Investment of Employee Benefits Assets (CIEBA) Executive Committee (15 Years); and the Minnesota Counci l on Economic Education (MCEE) Board of Directors (40 years). John was a member of the New York Stock Exchange Pension Managers Advisory Council (three year term). John was a curious, gracious, generous and kind man. He had a rare charm and acute intellect . He lived a principled and ethical life. He married the second love of his life Janet Kelly in 1989. They had many exciting adventures and traveled extensively around the world to places like Antarctica, Viet Nam, and the Galápagos Islands. They enjoyed b ridge, lawn bowling, dinner club and wine club. John especially loved time spent with family. His children remember meticulously-planned station wagon road trips, camping and exploring National Parks across the United States and Canada including Glacier, Y ellowstone, Grand Canyon, Yosemite and Banff. One of John's favorite places to camp was Birch Bend on Round Lake near Brainerd where he taught his kids how to fish, chop wood, roast marshmallows over a campfire and to "shoot-the-moon" in Hearts. John was p receded in death by his parents and his first wife. He is survived by his devoted wife Janet (Kelly), sons John (Connie), Avon Lake, OH, Paul, Missoula, MT, Karl (Colleen), Idaho Falls, ID, and daughter Ruth O'Neill, Minnetonka; grandchildren Andrew Bohan (Shannon), Christine Bohan, Cody Bohan, Craig Bohan, Phelan O'Neill, and Ariel O'Neill; great grandchildren Owen Bohan and Caroline Bohan; niece Ann Richards; nephew Mark Richards; and too many Kelly in-laws to mention. John will be interred at Lakewood C emetery in Minneapolis. We will celebrate John's life when it is safe to gather.
