Sherman, William Bradley Born in Minneapolis, April 22, 1926. A part of "America's Greatest Generation", Bill died of natural causes on January 3 2021 at the age of 94. Preceded in death by wife, Patricia; son, Stephen ; parents, Everett and Esther Sherman ; brothers, Everett and Robert; and sister, Marjorie McMillan. Bill is survived by his children, Brad Sherman (Mary), Lisa Brill (Terry) and Mike Nesbitt; 7 grandchildren, Kyle McDonald, Lisa Ostlund, Andy Brill, Greg Brill, Kinsley Smith, Reilly Nesbitt a nd Charlie Nesbitt and 6 great grandchildren. Bill grew up on Colfax Av S, the youngest of 4 children. He attended Ramsey junior high where a girl who lived up the street caught his eye. His first "date" with Patricia Hessian took place in 8th grade. Bill and Pat attended Washburn High school. He enlisted in the service in 1944, joining the Army Air Corp. The war ended, and he enrolled at the University of Minnesota where his love affair with Pat blossomed. Their marriage lasted almost 70 years, when mom p assed away on March 12, 2020. Bill loved sports and lettered in football, hockey and baseball at Washburn. By the time they were married, Pat had convinced Bill golf would be their game. The two played together throughout their marriage. They loved everyth ing about the game and traveled the world playing golf. He was an ardent fan of Minnesota Gopher football and basketball. Bill and Pat rarely missed a game. Bill worked in the candy industry his entire life, beginning with the Wrigley company. He followed with a long tenure at Pearson Candy where he was vice president - national sale manager for twenty years. He started Excel Marketing in 1974, and represented many great brands of confectionary and snack food products. He was nationally recognized for his work in the industry. Upon retirement they spent winters in Florida playing golf with old friends from their days at Washburn. They lived their entire adult life in Edina where they raised their family. They attended St. Stephen's church for 50 years. Bil l was a past president of the Minnesota Golf Association, the Gopher Candy association, The Suburban Men's Club and the National Association of Candy Wholesalers. He served on the Board of Governors at Interlachen Country Club and was a member for over 60 years. Bill talked softly and smiled broadly. He seldom judged others, and set a positive example for all who knew him. He was a wonderful son, husband, father and grandfather, adored by his entire family A heartfelt thank you to his care team, especially Kristi Alberts. We will be forever grateful.
