Martin, Kathryn S. 92 years, passed away Thursday, December 11, at Covenant Living in Golden Valley, MN. Kathryn was born February 15, 1928 in Henning, MN, to Robert and Lillian Shaw of International Falls, MN. She was a 1946 graduate of the Falls High Sch ool. She went on to attend Macalester College in St. Paul from 1946 to 1948. In 1948, Kathryn married James F. Martin. In 1970, Kathryn earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education and, in 1975, a Master of Science degree in Education from the Universi ty of Buffalo in Buffalo, NY. From 1970, she taught home economics and life skills to special needs students at schools in Buffalo, NY, and later in Oak Ridge, TN. She was nominated for New York State Home Economics Teacher of the Year in 1977 and Tennesse e Teacher-of-the-Year in 1983. Kathryn served as president of the Buffalo Home Economic Teachers Association and Vice President of the New York State Home Economic Teachers Association. Kathryn retired to Minneapolis in 1982 where she and her husband were members of Christ Presbyterian Church in Edina. In addition to raising a family, going back to school and earning an advanced degree, and her full-time teaching career, she enjoyed cooking, gardening, flower arranging, attending the orchestra, and collect ing antiques. Kathryn is proceeded in death by her husband of 73 years. She is survived by her four sons, five granddaughters, two great-grandsons, a brother and a sister.
