A Place to Remember

COVID-19 Response

For nearly 150 years, Lakewood has been a place where people come together to honor, remember and reflect. We care deeply about the families and communities we serve, and our hearts go out to those who’ve been affected by the coronavirus (COVID-19). Supporting your safety is of the utmost importance to us, so we are closely monitoring the situation and following guidelines outlined by the CDC and the Minnesota Department of Health.

Why Lakewood

Honoring life is more important now than ever – and although there are limitations on how we can physically come together, there are still a variety of ways you can memorialize someone you have lost, or make plans for how you want to be remembered.

Visiting

At present, our grounds remain open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. for visiting. All of our buildings are temporarily closed to the public.

While here, we ask that you practice social distancing and respect the sacred nature of this space. Though Lakewood is rich with history, we are primarily an active place of remembrance where families mourn loved ones. For this reason, we do not allow pets and ask that you limit your activities while here to walking, quiet reflection and exploring the beautiful scenery and art. Please be mindful and respectful of other families’ graves and private graveside services.

Stay in Touch

Sign up for our newsletter to stay up to date on any COVID-related policy changes and guidelines that impact Lakewood. We’ll also share virtual events and tours, history and art features, new memorialization options, and timely resources for you and your loved ones.

At Lakewood, we believe it’s time to take a fresh look into the ways we approach death and remembering.  To reimagine how we come together to honor and memorialize life.  From Memorial Day to Earth Day events to lakeside cremation gardens to Lantern-Lighting Celebrations.  We invite you to come see the possibilities for yourself.

Why Lakewood

Since 1871, Lakewood has been helping families honor, celebrate and remember their loved ones in a place of rich history and extraordinary beauty that will be protected and cared for forever.
