About This Event
Preparing an obituary for someone you love is an exercise best approached with care and thought. An obituary acknowledges the loss of our loved one, expresses the pain of their loss, and the joy that their presence among us brought.
In this informative session, local mortician Angela Woosley will share tips to help you write and publish an obituary or death notice. We’ll cover what to include and exclude, unique obituary writing conventions, publication options, and pricing. While this presentation focuses on Twin Cities metro publications and pricing, we’ll also explore other options to spread the word about funeral services.
Most importantly, we’ll share ideas to help you effectively capture a life story while getting the most for your money.
About Your Instructor
Angela Woosley, M.A. is a MN-licensed mortician and founder of Inspired Journeys LLC, the Midwest’s first woman-owned and client-centered natural deathcare provider, which offers a full spectrum of funeral services that focus on inviting families into the profound moments at the end of life. She also provides celebrant services, end-of-life doula work, and natural disposition facilitation.
Angela taught for over ten years in the Program of Mortuary Science at UMN, developing one of the first hands-on, writing-intensive funeral arrangements courses in American funeral education. Currently, she serves as president of the board of directors for the National Home Funeral Alliance. She lives in St. Paul with her spouse, two mouthy cats, a rescue terrier, and rotating piles of laundry.
