About This Event
She Climbs Mountains is a local organization which provides new events and opportunities for motherless daughters to connect with other women who have lost their mothers. Lakewood is honored to partner with this amazing organization to bring this event onsite to our beautiful Garden Mausoleum, and connect our audience with this organization.
Join us the day before Mother’s Day as we honor and celebrate the memories of our mothers over afternoon tea and treats. This simple act of gathering with others who have the shared understanding of mother loss is a profound and validating experience. Our time together will include a short program led by our Founder, Christine Friberg, and Girls Rise Up Director of Programming, Shadia Tobkin, with an invitation to give in continued support of our programming. This event is open to adult daughters (ages 19+) who have lost their mothers at any stage of life. Small infants welcome. Attire: think Spring!
All attendees are invited to email a digital image of their mothers to be included in a slideshow presentation at the event. Please find details in your registration confirmation email.

About She Climbs Mountains
She Climbs Mountains is a non-profit organization based in the Twin Cities serving adult women and girls ages 8-18 (Girls Rise Up) who have experienced mother loss through death at any age.
Through workshops, informal gatherings, and formal events for women, and social gatherings for girls, the organization is committed to encouraging adult and youth daughters to explore the myriad of emotions and experiences that accompany the loss of a mother.

This community encourages women and girls to grieve openly, share their stories, ask questions, nurture themselves and each other, examine the loss of their mothers, and seek joy and gratitude in a secure environment with the goal of creating a safe, supportive, and loving sisterhood.
The Lakewood Garden Mausoleum
This event will take place in the upper level reception space of our beautiful Garden Mausoleum. This modern building was designed in 2012 by HGA Architects and serves as both an active mausoleum and a community space, making it the perfect location for grief and remembrance events.
Signs will be posted directing you to the event location or click here for GPS navigation through Google Maps.

Parking
Parking is available on any of the roads inside Lakewood’s gates unless otherwise noted with a no parking sign. Handicap parking will be available near the building entrance. Lakewood does not have an onsite parking lot – it is street parking only. This means you may have to park a short distance away and walk.
Bussing
There is a bus that stops right outside of Lakewood’s gates, the Garden Mausoleum is about two “city blocks” away from the entrance.
Biking
There is a Nice Ride station available on 34th/Hennepin, and 36th/Bryant, just a few blocks away from our front gates. Lakewood has one small bike rack near the front gates. Please do not lock bikes to any of our signs or trees.
Covid-19 Safety Protocol
At the request of our event hosts, the following safety protocols are in place:
- Proof of vaccination or a negative covid test within 72 hours before entering the building
