Volunteer Training

Interested in becoming a volunteer at Lakewood? Join the new Welcome Team – now in their second year! Volunteers are needed to welcome Lakewood visitors to our beautiful grounds and help them connect with our storied history.
Lakewood Welcome Team Tasks Include
- Greeting visitors, handing our programs and refreshments, parking/directional help, and other duties as needed
- Assisting guests to find their way around our 250-acre grounds
- Serving as a resource connecting Lakewood visitors to our staff for help with questions
- Overseeing activities like the Living Memory Tree, handing out flowers for Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, and more!
Become a Volunteer
All volunteers must register and attend our mandatory volunteer training. Training for volunteers takes place at Lakewood on Sunday, March 26th from 1-3pm in the Garden Mausoleum. Learn more or signup to become a volunteer by visiting our volunteer page.
Register for Training
Volunteers will attend a 2-hour training session and gain valuable knowledge about Lakewood, including a variety of volunteer resources. These training sessions occur once a year in the spring. To register for training, please fill out the form on our volunteer page.
The Lakewood Garden Mausoleum

The Lakewood Heritage Foundation
The volunteer program is supported by the Lakewood Heritage Foundation. The Lakewood Heritage Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization created to sustain this local treasure by supporting educational programming and the preservation and restoration of Lakewood’s landscape, art, architecture and public spaces—for the benefit of all.
