Lakewood’s Memorial Tree Program

Lakewood’s tree canopy is one of the most beautiful and serene aspects of our landscape. After recently losing hundreds of trees to an invasive beetle species called the emerald ash borer, we are now working on a plan to start planting a variety of beautiful new trees.

As part of our plan we’ve created the Memorial Tree Program, which offers families and our community new opportunities to support us in developing and caring for our trees, including a new way to honor and memorialize loved ones here at Lakewood.

Option 1: Custom Tree Planting

Starting at $1,000 (tax deductible, some exceptions apply)

We will work with you to choose a custom location and tree (from a curated list) for planting here at Lakewood. This option includes a memorial plate that can be inscribed in memory of a loved one (guaranteed for a three-year period).

To schedule a consultation, please contact us at (612)822-2171 or info@lakewoodcemetery.org.

Option 2: Adopt-A-Tree Planting

$300 (tax deductible)

Support our tree canopy by sponsoring a new tree! This includes a memorial plate that can be inscribed in memory of a loved one.

Lakewood chooses the tree and location. Once the tree is planted, we will send you a picture of your adopted tree, along with information about where to find it at Lakewood. You have the option to renew your sponsorship after three years.

For more information, please contact us at (612)822-2171 or info@lakewoodcemetery.org.

Option 3: Donation to the Lakewood Heritage Foundation

All donation amounts accepted (tax deductible)

You can also support the ongoing care of trees at Lakewood by making a donation to the Lakewood Heritage Foundation.

Mail checks to:
