Cremation Urns and Vaults

Cremation urns and urn vaults are items you may purchase directly from Lakewood, depending on the cremation memorial option you choose. Lakewood staff can help you make these purchases.

Choosing an Urn

A cremation urn is a container used to hold cremated remains. Lakewood requires a permanent cremation urn for entombment in niches (compartments inside a columbarium).

Lakewood can help you choose from a large variety of urn shapes, colors and materials including bronze, stainless steel and marble. Some materials, such as bronze, can be engraved.

Choosing an Urn Vault

An urn vault is a container that is placed in a grave to hold the urn. Urn vaults protect the urn from the elements, and help keep the ground above from sinking in over time.

Urn vaults are available in a variety of materials and some can be customized with an emblem or engraving. You also have the option of placing memorabilia in the urn vault with the urn. Lakewood offers many vault choices, however in the case of Doric, we do not permit the Revere Urn Vault. In the case of Wilbert, we do not permit the Salute UV or the Universal.

A Place for Remembrance

Physical memorials provide a focal point for remembrance. Having one’s remains placed or buried at Lakewood ensures that future generations will have a place to go to remember — a place that will always be maintained and preserved. See cremation property choices.

Convenient and Affordable at Lakewood

Lakewood staff can review all options with you and answer your questions about urns and urn vaults. Financing is available, and all proceeds from sales are used to maintain Lakewood’s grounds and facilities to keep Lakewood beautiful and well groomed in all seasons.
