Processing Grief – A Sound Meditation

Grief is a natural and necessary process for dealing with loss. Everyone grieves differently and in their own time. Allowing yourself to fully experience, express, and process grief can help you accept the reality of what has happened and find peace. Finding meaning in the loss and understanding how it has changed us can allow us to move forward and live life differently.

In this session, we will guide you through a meditative experience to connect with yourself. Through breathwork and the use of overtone-producing instruments, you will be able to release tension and focus on the present moment. We will encourage active listening and receptivity to allow a full embrace of the emotions that may be just under the surface, whether they be grief, joy, vulnerability, compassion or strength.

This session is an alternative form of grief support that is driven by active breathwork, mindful listening, and tuning into one’s own emotions. Join Bob and Thomasina Fisk of Waking Nomad as they guide you through this healing and meditative journey in the historic Lakewood Memorial Chapel.

What to Bring

  • Optional: A blanket, cushion or blanket may add to your comfort. Seating is in pews, and due to high attendance, there is generally not enough room for lying down.
  • Optional: Water bottles are allowed, but other kinds of beverages and food are not allowed in this historic building.
  • Optional: Masks are not required, but please bring one if it makes you more comfortable, especially for the breathwork portion of this event.

Tickets at the Door

If an event is not sold out, tickets may be available at the door. At this time we only accept cash or check at the door.

The Historic Lakewood Memorial Chapel

This event will take place in the beautiful Lakewood Memorial Chapel. This historic chapel provides a peaceful and reverent setting for this healing experience.

Signs will be posted directing you to the event location or click here for GPS navigation through Google Maps.

Parking

Parking is available on any of the roads inside Lakewood’s gates unless otherwise noted with a no parking sign. Handicap parking will be available near the chapel entrance. Lakewood does not have an onsite parking lot – it is street parking only. This means you may have to park a short distance and walk. We strongly encourage carpooling and taking public transportation.

Bussing

There is a bus that stops right outside of Lakewood’s gates, which is a short walk to the chapel.

Biking

Please use the bike racks located near the main gates. It is a short walk from there to the chapel. Do not lock bikes to trees or signs, or leave unlocked bikes on the grounds.

Covid Safety Notice

At this time we do not have any covid policies in place for this event. Please note the first part of this event includes heavy breathwork in an indoor space. Guests are welcome to wear masks and distance from other guests when possible, if that is more comfortable.
