About Lakewood’s Tea Ceremony and Grief Circle Offerings

Life is filled with transitions and losses, and grief often accompanies them. Yet little space is set aside to acknowledge and process this powerful emotion. Join a safe and welcoming group for a silent, meditative Tea Ceremony where grief is welcomed, in one of the most beautiful spaces in our city — the Lakewood Memorial Chapel.

Tea has been used for thousands of years for deep meditation, rites of passage and sacred transitions. Tea, when used in ceremony, has the power to transform. It invites us to connect with nature, with our community and with the deepest parts of our unknown selves. This meditative Tea Ceremony will be used to facilitate processing of grief, followed by an optional grief circle. Resources will be offered for further grief support and community.

You are welcome to bring a journal for post ceremony reflection, but it is not required, you will be able to reflect with or without writing. Dress comfortably and come as you are.

About your guide

Your guide, Christin Ament, provides grief and end-of-life support as a death doula and palliative care and hospice provider. She was trained in Taiwan by Buddhist Monks on Cha-Dao, the art of Tea, and has led tea ceremonies around the globe.
