Edna L Lamon

Edna Lenore Lamon (Ayer) was born on December 27, 1929 to Hazel Gladys Ayer and John Bruce Ayer in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She had a brother, John Edward Ayer, and a sister, Joyce Gladys Anderson. After the death of their father, when she was 2 years old, the family moved to Pillager, Minnesota. Edna graduated from Pillager High School in 1948. While in High School she was a cheerleader. Edna had a love and longing for Pillager, Minnesota all of her life.After High School, her Mother and her moved to Minneapolis, so she could attend Business college and she graduated in 1950. She worked as a stenographer, and later; at the Century Movie Theatre, and Honeywell. She married Jerry Jerome Lamon in Baltimore, Maryland on June 13, 1953. They lived in Minneapolis, Minnesota. They had 5 children: Brian, Bonnie, Connie, Cheryl and Wayne. The children were very close in age and having 5 children in 5 years, was a very busy household. They grew up in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. She was always attentive and involved with all of her children and their activities. She served as a Camp Fire Girl leader, Cub Scout leader, Sunday School teacher, and helped all of her children succeed in their endeavors of sports, music, and other interests. She was the family taxi driver making sure every single person was at their event and back home safely. She headed up involvement, to help others, by volunteering with any of the family members singing abilities or service projects, especial ly to those in need. She taught compassion for others. One of the family highlights was going to the Boundary Waters canoe area, where she was famous for her fresh picked blueberry pies that she cooked in a Dutch oven, over a fire. The outdoors was a love of hers and she noticed and could identify the birds and flowers and always loved the natural beauty around her.She enjoyed many projects to include handiwork, embroidery, crocheting, and crafts. Edna had a gift of writing cards, letters and notes to her friends and family. She never missed an occasion to send a Birthday greeting or letter. She was an avid reader and always had a book nearby. She held several part time jobs to include the Bus Driver for Osseo Public schools, Dale Tile, and Dunkin Donuts. She also headed up the annual family job experiences at the Minnesota State Fair. Each of the 5 kids, and her included, worked each day of the fair, for many years. She served as the family paper route director when the family had several routes to complete in the neighborhood. She was very good with planning and teaching her children about making money, managing it a nd setting a goal to make a dream happen. Later, she went to College and graduated from North Hennepin Jr. College with an Associate of Arts Degree in 1979. She also graduated from Hennepin Vocational Technical school in Floral Arranging.Her Christian faith and Love of Jesus was always a huge part of her life. She was baptized; May 23,1942 in the Seventh-day Adventist Church. She read her bible, read bible stories to her children, worshipped regularly, prayed, and sang many hymns and songs. She read several devotions daily for strength, and guidance. Edna was a supporter and encourager to others outside of her family as well. She talked on the phone, visited with many people and prayed with them. She connected as a friend and encourager. Sh e cared for her own Mother and was very close to her. She included her in all of the family events and helped her, when she aged.Edna loved all of her grandchildren and spent many happy times together with them and their families. She went to live with her daughter Cheryl, husband Paul and 3 children: Christopher, Cassandra and Megan, when she was in her 70’s. Her son- in-law, Col (Dr) Paul L. Scholl, USAF (ret), was in the United States Air Force and she had the opportunity to move several places with their family, around the nation. She enjoyed each city and experience. But most of all, she appreciated the love of a caring and lovi ng family and constant, compassionate care for her, throughout the rest of her life. She was very blessed to have great grandchildren. Edna passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family in San Antonio,Texas on January 21st, 2021. She was 91 years old. She is survived by:Son: Jerry Brian Lamon (Elaine); granddaughter: Toni Elyea; Daughter: Bonnie Jean Moren (Jonathan); grandson: Nathan Moren (Erin) and great granddaughters: Penelope and Juniper Moren, grandson: Benjamin Moren (Sara Fowler); Daughter: Connie Joan Priesz (Douglas Tietz) and great grandson: Brock Morschen; Daughter: Cheryl Lynn Scholl (Paul) ; grandson: Christopher Scholl, granddaughter: Cassandra Scholl and great grandson: Myles Cushing, granddaughter: Megan Scholl; Son: Wayne Alan Lamon (Dorothy); granddaugh ter: Karn Lamon, grandson: Ward Lamon (Anne), grandson: Jared Lamon (Mary Kasen). And other family and friends. She was preceded in death by Husband Jerry Jerome Lamon, Mother Hazel Gladys Ayer, Father John Bruce Ayer, Brother John Edward Ayer, Sister Joyce Gladys Anderson, Aunt Zella Blanch Ayer. Private visitation and Interment at Lakewood Cemetery, Minneapolis, Minnesota.
