Lindeland, Arthur Tilden Age 87. Born 8/06/1934, of Edina, MN. Our beloved Husband, Father, Physician and Friend was set free from the bonds of Parkinson's Disease on 01, 11, 2022 at 7AM in his home with his wife at his side ... He leaves behind devoted wife, Mary Ann Becker, children, Michael, Karen (Markus Uhl), David, Dr. Betsy Lindeland, Sydney her cat, Betsy's mother, Marnie Milbert and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents, Arne and Signe Lindeland and baby daughter, Julie Ann. As an only child of immigrant Norwegian parents, Arthur excelled in academics, even at an early age. After graduating from Washburn High, Class of '52, he attended the University of Minnesota and obtained his medical degree subsequently advancing into an internship at "The General" (currently HCMC). He also completed his certification to become a specialist in Internal Medicine. He met and married a nurse, Lauralee McLaughlin. They raised 3 active children, but lost a 4th child to a rare disease. After his internship, he accepted a position with the prestigious Dr John Johnson group. His extraordinary command of medical knowledge to accurately diagnose and treat, often times difficult maladies, coupled with his genuine compassion, quiet confident demeanor and wry humor, quickly made him a popular physician. His practice was interrupted by the Draft in 1966. Art enlisted in the Navy and received the rank of Lt. Cmdr. After moving his family to California, he completed his tour of duty at Oakland Naval Hospital and returned to his practice. For 42 years Arthur loved the people he cared for and those he came in contact with to do that job and they in turn, loved him. He was Chief of Staff at Abbott Hospital during the merge with Northwestern Hospi tal. He married again, a nurse, Marnie Milbert. They were blessed with a daughter, Betsy. He was intensely proud of all his children and so enjoyed the time he spent with them. At age 86, after 25 years with his companion, Mary Ann, they married last June and added a whole new dimension to their lives. Art was devoted, genuine, tenacious, skilled, funny, brilliant, and loyal. His dry wit and love of telling stories over and over and over again will be remembered with a smile. His famous line was "What's going on in your world today?" Special thanks to the staff of Interim Hospice; especially Brenda, RaeKell, and Candace who were so attentive to us during such a stressful sad time. Visitation 4-8pm Wednesday, January 19th at Washburn-McReavy Edina Chapel, West 50th St. and Vernon Ave. @ Hwy 100, Edina. Funeral Service 11 am Thursday with visitation beginning at 10am also at the funeral chapel. Interment Lakewood Cemetery. Memorials preferred to the Family or to Parkinson's Research.
