All Souls Sing: Community Sing at Lakewood

Join song leader Dan Chouinard for the thirteenth annual All Souls Community Sing at Lakewood Cemetery. Everyone is welcome at this open-house style event.
Doors will open around 2:40pm.
No reservations are required. Please note, space is limited and available on a first-come first-served basis.

Dan Chouinard is a St. Paul-based all-purpose pianist and accordionist, concert soloist and accompanist, sing-along enabler, bicycling vagabond, and creator/host of live history-and-music shows for Minnesota Public Radio, Twin Cities Public Television and theaters across Minnesota. He’s the leader of the classic country band Lush Country, comprised of fellow Prairie Home Companion veterans. He’s hosted sing-alongs at Lakewood with various songleader friends since 2013. The Historic Lakewood Memorial Chapel
This event takes place in the beautiful and historic Lakewood Memorial Chapel. This stunning building was built in 1910 by architect Harry Wild Jones, and is modeled after the Hagia Sofia in Istanbul. It is one of the only examples of Byzantine style chapels in the US and is on the National Register of Historic Places. Click here for more information on the Lakewood Memorial Chapel.

Parking and Transportation
Driving Directions
Feel free to park anywhere along Lakewood’s roads unless otherwise noted with a no parking sign. Please do not park or drive on the grass.
Bus Directions
A bus stop is located right outside of Lakewood’s gates. Please refer to the Metro Transit website for the most up to date information about bus lines and schedules.
Bike Directions
Biking at Lakewood is permitted to and from and event, service, or grave. Lakewood has several small bike racks. Bike rack locations are noted on the map below.
Please do not lock bikes to any of our signs or trees. Please use caution when biking through Lakewood and yield to any vehicles or machinery. A 20mph speed limit is enforced. External speakers playing music are not permitted at Lakewood.
Our cemetery roads were not designed for biking. Unlike city streets, there are no stop signs or traffic signals. Often, people driving in the cemetery may be grieving and distracted. Because of this, recreational biking is not encouraged.
Accessibility
Due to the historic nature of this venue, there are limited accessibility accommodations that can be made. Accessibility notices are below:
- Handicap accessible parking will be available near the entrance of the chapel.
- A ramp is available leading into the chapel.
- All seating is in fixed pews – there is some room in the back of the venue for a wheelchair but it is limited.
- Two single stall restrooms are available on the main level but cannot accommodate a wheelchair or walker.
- Handicap accessible restrooms are only available in chapel’s lower level (requires going outside and around the building to use a the lower-level entrance) and in the Garden Mausoleum, which is open until 4:30 and located about 2 blocks from the chapel.
