Volunteer as a Lakewood Tour Guide
We are currently accepting tour guide applications for the 2026 tour season!

Lakewood tour guides engage and educate Lakewood visitors during 60–90-minute guided tours of the grounds. These tours will cover Lakewood’s history, architecture and notable residents, along with local history, cemetery history, and more. Guides will also promote and discuss current Lakewood offerings and events and provide additional resources, like connecting visitors with Lakewood staff when needed.
This unique, flexible volunteer opportunity offers the chance to learn more about local history, connect with the community, and gain unique insights into death, dying, memorialization and the importance of cemeteries as sacred spaces for education and storytelling. As part of the 2026 tour guide program, guides will be heavily trained in inquiry-based and conversational tours, while also engaging deeply with Lakewood’s history. Though not required, previous tour guide, inquiry-based education, or historical research experience is a plus.
Wednesday evening availability is required for training and public walking tours, however we offer additional private and event-based tours on many evenings (after 4pm) and weekends, subject to tour guide availability.
